Silk is tagged as the fabric for wealthy and successful people. Silk is woven from natural fibers and it is obtained from cocoons made by the larvae of mulberry silk worm. Silk was first developed in early China, as early as 6000 BC. The fabric was initially set aside for the emperors of China as they had a greater monopoly in weaving of silk. In the later years its use widened gradually throughout China both geographically and communally. Silk was one of the staples for international trader prior to industrialization.

Silk is one of the only few pure protein fiber. Scientific studies have shown that silk helps to maintain the metabolism on the outside membrane of the skin to keep the skin wet and smooth. In addition, silk is considered to be an alternative cure for a certain type of dermatitis. Silk fabric can also protect the skin from the damaging ultra violet radiation from the sun. Silk is suave, elegant and versatile. Silk garments when worn preserves its shape, drapes well and cuddles the body and shines with a luster of its own.

Scarves are a piece of cloth worn on the head or around the neck for warmth, cleanliness, and fashion or religious beliefs. In colder climates, a thick knitted scarf is often of wool is tied around the neck to keep warm and where as in dustier climates a thin scarf is woven to keep the hair clean. Scarves can be woven from different fabric. However, it is ultimately silk scarves that are famous world over because they look elegant; they are light; and easily manageable. A cotton scarf is hard to twist where as a silk scarf can be crumpled, twisted, and stored in a hand bag.
